COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Delaware Hall gymnasium was alive Friday night as league rivals Columbus State and Owens battled in a four-set thriller. Owens, the 2018 National Champion, outlasted Columbus State despite a strong showing from the Cougars.
After the Express opened the match with a 12-point victory, Columbus State responded by clinching a crucial second set. Owens then secured wins in the third and fourth sets to take the match.
On Saturday, the Cougars overcame a shaky start for the opening set against Lorain County to win the next three sets. The victory coincided with "Sophomore Day", a recognition of the eight sophomores who played their last home match for Columbus State.
