Cougar Volleyball Goes 4-0 at Owens Invitational

PERRYSBURG, Ohio – The Columbus State Community College volleyball team remains undefeated after closing out the Owens Invitational with four wins, including three sweeps. The Cougars improve to 6-0 overall and remain atop the conference leaderboard.

Columbus State swept DIII Jamestown and Sandhills, and DII Oakland while dropping one set to DII Mott over the weekend.

Bobby Diamond had a stellar performance over the 13 sets, accumulating 46 kills with an average .421 attack percentage. She also racked up a total of 13 blocks. Mason Steele recorded 30 kills on .248 hitting while Tiziana Russell smacked down 18 kills and put up eight blocks for the Cougars.

Audrey Jenkins dished out a cumulative 119 helpers and tallied 30 digs. Tate Rybarczyk registered 67 digs and four aces while Delaney Short added 18 digs and six aces.

Key Tournament Statistics

-The Cougars posted season-best numbers in two matches, including a.250 hitting percentage vs. Jamestown and eight services aces vs. Oakland.

-Diamond led all players in every match in kills as Jenkins did with assists.

Overall Statistical Leaders

-Diamond 6th in the nation in attack percentage (.386) and kills per set (3.78).

-Jenkins is 5th in assists per set with 9.05 while Rybarczyk is 9th in digs per set with 5.22 scoops.

-Esther Holtzclaw and Akea Hunter are both atop the national leaderboard in total blocks per set with 1.29 (9th) and 1.18 (11th) respectively.

-The Cougars are in the top 15 in the country in multiple statistical categories. They are 3rd in blocks per set (3.30), 6th in assists per set (9.91), 13th in kills per set (10.05) and attack percentage (.189), and 14th in digs per set (16.45).
