NJCAA names Diamond and Payne All-Americans

COLUMBUS, Ohio –Two standout Cougars were named 2018-19 National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) DIII all-Americans on Tuesday afternoon.

First-team honors went to Bobby Diamond, a 5'11" outside hitter from Delaware (Olentangy High School) while Honorable Mention recognition went to Georgia Payne, a 5'9 setter from Mansfield (Lexington High School). Diamond and Payne were both OCCAC first-team and NJCAA Region XII selections.

Diamond averaged 3.18 kills, 0.93 blocks, 0.72 digs, and 0.35 aces per set this season. With an average of .399 hitting, she accumulated 350 kills across 33 matches. She also tallied 102 blocks, 79 digs, 38 aces and 455 points. She is the 9th volleyball player in Columbus State history to earn first team all-American honors.

Payne earned accolades for her 4.98 assists, 1.77 kills, 1.88 digs, and 0.89 blocks per set this season. She amassed 204 kills on .270 hitting along with 573 assists, 216 digs, and 102 blocks during her second season.

Primarily an outside hitter during her freshman year, Payne ends her Columbus State career with 416 kills, 603 assists, 346 digs, and 160 blocks. She is the 3rd volleyball player in Columbus State history to receive honorable mention all-American.

Columbus State finished the 2018-19 season with a 28-5 overall record and as the OCCAC runner-up.
