COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Columbus State volleyball team collected its fifth straight win after a 25-19, 25-14, 25-10 match on Saturday against Lakeland.
The Cougars hit .297 as a team while holding the Lakers to a .092 attack percentage. Each Cougar was able to enter into rotation and register at least a single dig in the effort.
Bobby Diamond and Georgia Payne led the team with 11 and 10 kills respectively on over .400 hitting. Payne had a game-high 27 assists and four blocks while Diamond put up a trio of blocks. Yeauger contributed six kills while Edan Jones, Tiziana Russell, and Whitney Staggs each added five kills. Anna Megown rounded out the attacks with four kills.
Audrey Jenkins helped steer the offense with 13 assists. Yeauger, Dunn, and Mechlin each recorded two aces.
-This is Payne's fourth double-double of the season.
-Diamond has hit .400 or better with at least seven kills in half of the season's matches. She's now 4th in the nation in hitting with an average of .420.
-Dunn has tallied double digit digs in eight of the 16 matches and at least one ace in 13 of them.
-This is Mechlin's 10th match with double-digit digs.
-Columbus State is 3rd in the nation in blocks per set (2.75), 4th in kills per set (11.35) and 4th in assists per set (10.78).
