KIRTLAND, Ohio – The Columbus State volleyball team extended its win streak to three with a 3-0 win over Lakeland on Wednesday evening. The victory came by set scores of 25-8, 25-20, 25-10.
The Cougars (12-2, 6-1 OCCAC) out-performed the Lakers (2-12, 1-5 OCCAC) in every statistical category,
As a team, they executed 45 kills on .385 hitting while holding Lakeland to a .050 attack percentage. Columbus State accumulated more kills (45), assists (43), and digs (34) in this match than other three-set victory this season.
NJCAA Player of the Week Bobby Diamond recorded a team-high 12 kills on .733 hitting while committing only a single error. Edan Jones finished with eight kills on .278 hitting while Tanya Yeauger contributed seven kills on 18 errorless swings for .389 hitting. Whitney Staggs and Tiziana Russell added six and five kills respectively.
Georgia Payne dished out a career-high 22 assists and put up a game-high three solo blocks. She also registered six kills on 15 errorless attacks for .400 hitting. Audrey Jenkins turned in 15 assists and had a career-high three aces in the effort.
In the back, Megan Mechlin scooped up a career-best 22 digs while Jones tied her career-high 18 digs.
The Cougars continue conference play as they host Cuyahoga on Friday at 6:00 p.m. and Lakeland on Saturday at 11:00 a.m.
