Cougar Volleyball Trounces Hawks

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Cougars go into this weekend's Owens Tournament with a 2-0 record after a 25-9, 25-3, 25-5 win over Hocking on the home court Wednesday evening.

Columbus State posted some impressive numbers, including a team hitting average of .458 and accumulating 17 aces.

Bobby Diamond led the game with ten kills on .643 hitting while racking up four aces. Tanya Yeauger added six kills, three blocks, and two aces. Diamond and Yeauger each had three blocks.

Samantha Dunn recorded a game-high five aces and twelve digs while Audrey Jenkins and Georgia Payne dished out eleven and ten assists respectively. Payne also finished with six digs and four blocks.

This weekend, Columbus State hits the road to take on all DII Michigan teams at the Owens Community College Tournament.

Key Statistics:

-This is the fourth consecutive three-set win over Hocking College.

-Every player who recorded a kill hit at least .333 or better. Three players (Diamond, Yeauger, & Payne) averaged over .600.

-The last time the Cougars averaged an attack percentage above .458 was on Oct. 18, 2015 vs. East Central College (.492).

-Eight different players scored at least one ace. The Cougars have now totaled 28 service aces over six sets this year.
