In the first set, the Cougars trailed Edison by as many as seven points before rallying back to a five-point lead victory. By the second set, Columbus State was on fire, coming out strong and leading at one point by ten. In the third, the teams traded points with the Chargers eventually holding set point at 24-21. However, the Cougars gained enough momentum to tie up the score. Again, the teams went back-and-forth until Edison errored to give Columbus State the win.
The three sophomores (Katlyn Ray, Rafaella Gioffre, and Hannah Wallace) all gave impressive performances in the three sets. Hannah Wallace led the Cougar attack with eleven kills and a service ace. Her performance resulted in a game-high .588 attack percentage with only one error on 17 swings along with a trio of blocks and digs. Ray and Gioffre combined for 17 digs while Ray picked up an ace.
Kaitlyn Ahrns matched Wallace's 11 kills while adding an ace. Allyse Rutter dished out a game-high 16 assists and tallied eight kills. Vicki Osborne contributed 14 assists while Rachel Ralston rounded out the double-digit assisting with ten. Ralston, Leah Conway, and Morgan Danec all recorded four kills with Danec reaching a career-best eight blocks.
In the backrow, Haley Litman dominated with a game-high 25 digs. As a team, Columbus State averaged a .185 attack percentage while holding the Chargers to a .008.
The Cougars (13-9, 9-5 OCCAC) return to action on Fri, Oct. 28 when they host the Region XII DIII Championship at 6:00 p.m.

Katlyn Ray came to Columbus State after playing one season at Kentucky Christian University. A native of London, Ohio, she has competed in all 21 contests, averaging 2.42 digs per set as a defensive specialist. Her favorite moment this season was taking a set off of Owens. She is escorted by her mother, Casey, and brothers, Ty and Cameron.
Rafaella Gioffre is a two-year member of the Columbus State volleyball team, as well as a top golfer and cheerleader for Columbus State. The Huron, Ohio native competed in all 21 contests, averaging 1.59 digs per set as a defensive specialist. Her favorite moments this season were taking a set off of Owens and all the bus rides. She is escorted by her parents, Janet & Frank Gioffre.
Hannah Wallace is a two-year member of the Columbus State volleyball team. The Orient, Ohio native is currently is 11th in the country in blocks per set. She competed in 20 contests, averaging 2.3 kills and 1.4 blocks per set as a middle. Her favorite moment this season was being named Player of the Week. She is escorted by her parents, Shannon & Ken Wallace.
