Cougar Women’s Basketball Suffers Two Losses on Road Trip

PORT HURON, Michigan – The Columbus State women's basketball team suffered two losses on the road this weekend.

Inside the Games

-Lost to D2 Muskegon and Kellogg

- Record: 4-3 overall

Game One: Columbus State 48, Muskegon 76

-Held to a season-low 21.7.9% shooting percentage, the Cougars managed 66.7% (8-12) at the line.

-The 28-point loss is the largest defeat for Columbus State this season.

Key Statistics

-Anjalee Key powered the Cougar offense with 16 points. She also pulled down six rebounds.

-Saraysia Nelson and Taj Turner led the rebounding effort with seven boards apiece. Nelson also registered two assists and a team-high two steals.

Game Two: Columbus State 66, Kellogg 77

-The Cougars recorded double digit steals (12) for the third time this season.

Key Statistics

-Three Cougars scored in double figures. Martaisha Hawkins and Saraysia Nelson had 14 points each while Mickale Bates put away 13 points.

-Anjalee Key posted some impressive defensive numbers, including 11 rebounds (8 defensive), four blocks, and three steals.

-Columbus State is 6th nationally in blocks per game (6.0) and 14th in defensive rebounds per game (30.1).
