LANSING, Michigan – The Columbus State Community College cross country team competed well in the Region XII DIII Championships on Saturday afternoon at Grand Woods Park.
For the women's race, freshman Emily Blenk won the five kilometer race in 20:30.4. Shortly afterward, she was named the 2019 NJCAA Region XII Division III women's cross country individual champion. Also representing Columbus State was Marley Hogan, who crossed the line at 25:04.1.
Leading the scoring effort for the men was Kyle Roach, who finished fourth among DIII runners in the 8k race with a season best time of 28:51.0. The men finished as the regional runner-up behind Lorain County and Roach was named to the All-Region team.
Bryce Hanson was the next Cougar to cross the line, with a fifth place finish time of 31:08.5. Dylan Williams and Josiah Schooler followed with times of 32:17.5 and 32:25.3 respectively. Rounding out the scoring effort for the Cougars was Demitri Lowry who clocked in at 22:20.5. Nickolas Caiazza also competed for the Cougars and finished in 35:09.2.
On Sat, Nov. 2, Columbus State will compete at the NJCAA DIII Cross Country National Championships, held at Stanley Park in Westfield, Massachusetts.
