
FAIRVIEW, PA - The Columbus State cross country team finished 7th at the Race in Park Invitational, hosted by Mercyhurst and Gannon Universities on Saturday morning at Pleasant Ridge Park.
The eight-kilometer men's race featured eight teams from mostly four year schools.
Sophomore Kyle Roach paced the Cougars by finishing 29th in a field of 58 runners, crossing the line in 31:37.8. Freshman Josiah Schooler was the second Cougar to finish with a time of 33:24.3 for a 36th place finish.
Freshman Jeremy Amaro-Laureano and sophomore Dylan Williams followed with back to back times of 33:41.7 and 33:44.5 respectively.
Freshman Demitri Lowry rounded out the scoring effort, finishing in 35:00.8.
The hosts, Gannon University and Mercyhurst University, finished in first and second place respectively.
For the 82-women strong 5k race, Emily Blenk finished with a time of 21:44.4 for a 34th place finish. The other Cougar to cross the line was Marley Hogan, who clocked in at 28:13.1 to finish 74th overall.
The Cougars returns to action on Fri, Oct. 11 when they travel to Wilmington College for the Jenna Strong Invitational.
