Men’s Golf Wins Region XII DIII Championship, Advances to NJCAA DIII National Tournament

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. – The Columbus State Community College men's golf team clinched the Region XII DIII title on Tuesday after shooting a 325-333-329--987 to trounce Delta College (349-331-334—1014) for the victory.

Columbus State finished with two golfers going head-to-head in a playoff round for low-medalist honors. Nicholas Darling (81-80-79—240)) claimed the individual championship after battling with teammate Jacob Wilson (79-81-80—240) for the top spot.

Preston Yeater finished in fifth place with 83-87-85—255 while Adam Hopson and Anthony Tesi tied for sixth place at +40 over par.

The tournament crown earns the Cougars an automatic berth to the 2019 NJCAA DIII National Championship in Chautauqua, New York. The tournament begins on Tuesday, June 4 with the final round on Friday, June 7. The Cougars last saw national tournament action in 2017 when they finished as national runner-up.
