Columbus State Wins the ONU Spring Equinox Classic

HARROD, Ohio – The Columbus State men's golf team opened the spring season with a first place finish at Ohio Northern University's invitational held at Colonial Golfers Club. The Cougars finished the 18-hole first round on Saturday with 311 (+23).

The second round on Sunday was cancelled after just a few holes due to poor course conditions.

Columbus State was led by Zachary Griffith (pictured right), who achieved Medalist honors with his 3-over par 75 on the 6,886-yard, par-72 layout. He tied with ONU's Blaine Ricketts, but won the tiebreaker with a better front 9 to win the Medalist title.

Shane Holbrook and Justin Dearth tied for fourth of 32 golfers with a 78 and Clay Bryan tied for eleventh with an 80 to round out the top four.

The Cougars will be back on the course for the Capital University Invitational to be played at the New Albany Links (April 2) and the Royal American Links (April 3).
