Cheer on the Cougar volleyball, men’s basketball, or women’s basketball teams.

The Cougars draw crowds to campus from across central Ohio. Fans are key to Columbus State’s athletic teams’ success because cheering crowds inspire teams to win. And the more noise, the more Cougar Pride!

All home matches/games are free to Columbus State students with a Cougar ID!

 

INTERNSHIPS

The Columbus State athletics internship program is an un-paid position for credit and/or field experience. We will work with you to ensure that any standards required to fulfill the expectations for college credit/field experience are met.

Along with valuable experience, interns will receive the following:

  • Exposure to areas outside of your primary focus through participation in department functions and other events
  • Mentorship in area outside of your primary internship area
  • Possible Letter of Recommendations and Evaluations

Columbus State Athletics Interns are considered valuable members of the athletic staff. The Interns are given the opportunity to learn about their specific area of interest while gaining valuable hands-on experience in the successful overall operation of a NJCAA DIII institution.

 

Student-Athlete Academic Support Services Internship

Consider interning in the athletics office at Columbus State, where you will gain valuable skills that will help prepare you for a career in one of these highly sought after fields. Athletic compliance and academic support is responsible for providing quality academic, career, and personal support services for student athletes. The intern will work with staff during normal business hours.

Responsibilities include:

  • Schedule individual study hall hours and meet weekly with assigned student-athletes
  • Create daily and weekly academic reports
  • Supervise group study hall
  • Assist with the monitoring of progress towards degree and eligibility requirements
  • Aid in registration for student-athletes
  • Refer student-athletes to on-campus services as necessary
  • Serve as a mentor for academically at-risk student-athletes
  • Assist with all aspect of life skills and community service programs
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Athletic Communications Internship

Interested in a career in athletic communications or marketing? Consider interning in the athletics office at Columbus State, where you will gain valuable skills that will help prepare you for a career in one of these highly sought after fields. The office of athletic communications is responsible for the publicity of Columbus State’s athletic department. The intern will work with the SID to promote Columbus State student athletes to campus community and media outlets.

Responsibilities include:

  • Covering and promoting athletic events
  • Developing content for CSCCcougars.com, social media and other department publications including written messaging, photos, hype videos, and graphics.
  • Other related duties as assigned

This position may include some night and weekend coverage as well as working during normal business hours.

Athletic Game Day Operations Internship

Consider interning in the athletics office at Columbus State, where you will gain valuable skills that will help prepare you for a career in one of these highly sought after fields. Athletic game-day operations is responsible for the operations of all volleyball and basketball home games. The intern will work with staff to set-up, manage, and tear down each home game.

This position includes night and weekend coverage. Must be available for all volleyball & basketball home games. There are approximately 10 home volleyball games and 11 home basketball games during the 2019-20 academic year.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with the set-up and break down of the gymnasium for all athletic contests
  • Maintaining game day equipment
  • Liaison to visiting teams and officials
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Athletic Administrative Internship

Consider interning in the athletics office at Columbus State, where you will gain valuable skills that will help prepare you for a career in one of these highly sought after fields. Athletic administration is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the athletics department. The intern will work with staff during the business hours to perform routine tasks.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with organizing and sorting archived materials
  • Filling in at the front desk to answer general questions from visitors
  • Helping with data entry and updating files
  • Other related duties as assigned.
