COLUMBUS, Ohio –The Columbus State Community College Cougars unveiled a group of newly-designed logos to represent its department and respective sports teams. This is the first time in program history the department has an official athletics logo.
The revitalized logos have been formed to not only update the previous variety of logos used, including public clip art, but to provide a cohesiveness for the use of athletic branding and Cougar pride for the campus community.
"Cougar Athletics is thrilled to share the new branding with our students, employees, alumni, and community," said athletic director Scott Nichols. "Having a unified logo is essential as we continue to elevate our program profile. We strongly encourage everyone across the College to use the Cougar logo as we move forward."
The new brand was designed in-house specifically for the College's use. A collaborative effort involving the athletic department, Marketing & Communications, and a student focus group helped to define the new branding effort over the last year. The logo signifies determination and grit to capture the essence of a Columbus State student.
In addition to the traditional navy and white color scheme, grey will be used as an accent color for apparel, specifically home jerseys.
Over the next several months, the new logo with replace the existing ones around the athletics department, athletics website, as well as team uniforms, apparel, promotional materials, and other items. Additionally, the athletics department is excited to partner with the bookstore to begin selling apparel and merchandise soon.
Those within the campus community who wish to use the logo can access it here.
