Columbus, OH – Five Columbus State Community College student-athletes have been named to the 2018-19 NJCAA All-Academic Team for their excellence in the classroom.
Representing the Navy & White are Aaron Kennelly (men's cross country), Nicholas Darling (men's golf), Danielle Miller (volleyball), and Tezzaeria Christian & McKenna Cummins (both of women's basketball). Kennelly received First-Team honors, Darling earned Second-Team accolades, while Miller, Christian, and Cummins were recognized on the Third-Team.
Sophomore Kennelly and Darling are two-time recipients of this national award. Kennelly is the third men's cross country runner in school history while Darling is the first golfer in school history to receive this award twice.
This is the first career all-academic award for Miller, Christian, and Cummins. Furthermore, it's second time in school history that two women's basketball players received all-academic accolades – the first being in the 2007-08 academic year.
A total of 6,656 NJCAA academic award winners were nominated to one of three possible classifications: NJCAA All-Academic First Team - 4.00 GPA, NJCAA All-Academic Second Team- 3.80-3.99 GPA, and NJCAA All-Academic Third Team-3.60-3.79 GPA. To be considered, a student-athlete must have completed at least 24 credit hours with a minimum 3.60 cumulative GPA.
