BEAVER, Penn. – The No. 2 Columbus State Cougars secured a trio of non-conference wins on Saturday at Penn State the University-Beaver campus. Dropping just a single set in three matches, the wins improve the Cougars' record to 26-2.
Collectively, Columbus State averaged .263 on attacks and 3.10 blocks per set along with accumulating 19 aces. The Cougars have posted double-digit blocks in exactly half of all matches played this season.
Bobby Diamond led the attack overall with 24 kills on .406 hitting while Tanya Yeauger and Edan Jones each smacked down 21 kills. Jones also anchored the backline with 25 digs. Tiziana Russell shined at the net, totaling 19 kills on .435 hitting.
Megan Mechlin scooped up a combined 20 digs while Payne and Jenkins each had 15 digs.
Up next, the Cougars stay on the road as they travel to Rio Grande to face the University of Rio Grande's JV squad, who they defeated 3-0 earlier this season.
This weekend Columbus State returns home to face some tough competition. On Friday, they will battle No. 3 Owens at 6:00 p.m. and on Saturday, they take on Lorain County at 11:00 a.m.
