DAYTON, Ohio – After losing a tough first set, the No. 2 ranked Cougars bounced back, winning the next three sets to earn their 14th straight win of the season. Columbus State is now 23-2 and 12-2 in conference play while Sinclair falls to 17-11 overall and 7-3 in league action.
Bobby Diamond led the team with ten kills on the night and accounted for 13 of Columbus State's points. Georgia Payne contributed six kills while Tiziana Russell finished the night hitting .333, with five kills.
Tanya Yeauger and Edan Jones tallied four kills apiece while Whitney Staggs and Audrey Jenkins added three and two kills respectively. Yeauger also recorded a game-high two aces. Jones and Payne dished out a combined 26 assists for the offense.
On defense, the Cougars were solid on blocking. Diamond, Russell, and Payne put up three blocks apiece, while Yeauger and Jones registered two stuffs. In the back row, Megan Mechlin chipped in a team-high 12 digs.
The Cougars hit the road this weekend for some non-conference action at the Penn State-Beaver campus on Sat, Oct. 13.
