Cougar Volleyball Efficient in 3-0 Win at Cuyahoga

HIGHLAND HILLS, Ohio – The No. 3 Columbus State Community College volleyball team swept past Cuyahoga 25-17, 25-13, 25-14 for its 13th sweep of the season on Wednesday evening.

The Cougars (16-2, 9-1 OCCAC) hit .268 while racking up its second-highest number of aces this year with 16.

It was truly a group effort for the offense. Edan Jones and Bobby Diamond each registered seven kills while Tanya Yeauger added six kills on a team-high .385 hitting. Georgia Payne contributed five kills and Whitney Staggs chipped in four kills.  Payne and Audrey Jenkins combined for 29 of Columbus State's 31 assists.

Jones recorded a career-high seven aces while Jenkins and Yeauger chipped in three and two respectively.

On defense, Megan Mechlin led the team with 16 digs followed by Payne's six and Danielle Miller's five digs. Payne also had a team-best two solo blocks.

Columbus State will face off with OU-Chillicothe again Friday at home. First serve is set for 6 p.m. The Cougars defeated them 3-1 on Fri, Sep. 7.
