CHILLICOTHE, Ohio – The Columbus State Community College volleyball team continued its winning streak, picking up a 3-1 victory (17-25, 25-12, 25-21, 25-14) over OU-Chillicothe on Friday evening.
The Cougars are now 7-1 overall and 3-0 in conference play, which has been their best start since the 2014 squad, who were 8-0 at this time.
Edan Jones led the balanced attack with 16 kills, 18 digs, and four blocks. She produced a .500 attack percentage and had one service ace. Bobby Diamond was right behind Jones with 15 kills on .393 hitting along with a four digs and a career-best eight blocks.
Next up, Columbus State travels to Westerville to face Otterbein University's JV squad on Tue, Sep. 11 at 7:00 p.m.
-Columbus State has competed with OU-Chillicothe three times in program history. Each time, the Cougars have won 3-1.
-The Cougars are fifth in the nation in overall hitting with .300. They have three players in the top-50 in hitting: Diamond (7th), Yeauger (14th), and Jones (33rd).
-Columbus State recorded a season-high 56 kills, 73 digs, and 15 total blocks in the win.
-The Cougars produced its second-best attack percentage of .320.
-Jones has had two double-doubles on the season in kills and digs, while posting double figures digs in 6/8 matches.
-Jenkins had her first career double-double (assists & digs).
-Diamond has had double-figure kills in 4/8 matches while Mechlin had has double-figure digs in 4/8 matches.
