PERRYSBURG, Ohio – The Columbus State Community College volleyball team closed out the Owens Tournament on a high note after sweeping two teams on Saturday. Going 3-1 at the tournament, the Cougars improve to 5-1 overall and #2 in the OCCAC.
Columbus State swept Kalamazoo Valley, Lansing and Henry Ford and dropped their first loss of the season to Glen Oaks in a five set battle.
Outside hitter Bobby Diamond had a stellar performance over the four matches, accumulating 47 kills with an average .623 attack percentage. She racked up a trio of aces and 17 blocks. Tanya Yeauger recorded 30 kills on .323 hitting along with three aces and ten blocks. Edan Jones logged 22 kills on .222 hitting accompanied by 48 digs and four aces.
Next up for the Cougars is a home match vs. Sinclair Community College (3-4, 2-0 OCCAC) on Wed, Sep. 5 at 6:00 p.m.
Key Tournament Statistics
Diamond posted a career-high .750 in the Kalamazoo Valley match, adding nine kills on 12 errorless swings.
Jones recorded her first career double-double in the Glen Oaks match with 10 kills and 16 digs.
Payne had a double-double in the Henry Ford match with 15 assists and ten digs. She was one dig shy of a second double-double in the Glen Oaks match.

-Diamond is third in the nation in hitting percentage with .487. She leads the team in kills per set with 3.30 and blocks per set with 1.15.
-Dunn leads the team in aces per set (.65). Columbus State is currently 11th in the nation in total aces.
-The Cougars are sitting in the top 20 of digs (14.90) and assists (9.55) per set. Mechlin leads the team in digs per set with 3.45. Jenkins and Payne are neck and neck with assists per set, 4.70 and 4.15 respectively.
