COLUMBUS, Ohio – No. 4 Columbus State defeated Clark State (25-10, 25-10, 25-18) to open its regular season Friday evening.

Freshman Bobby Diamond led the Cougars with nine kills (.438) and four service aces, while freshman Tanya Yeauger posted seven kills and three blocks.

Sophomore Georgia Payne and freshman Audrey Jenkins each dished out 13 assists and scooped up seven digs.

Freshmen Megan Mechlin and Edan Jones each recorded 15 digs.

Freshman Samantha Dunn added a trio of aces while Payne had a team-high four blocks.

Next up, the Cougars host Hocking College on Wed, Aug. 29 at 6:00 p.m.

Key Statistics:

- This is the third consecutive win over Clark State in two years.

- Four players (Diamond, Payne, Tiziana Russell, and Anna Megown) hit .400 or better with at least two kills apiece.

- The Team recorded 11 total service aces: Highest the program has had since the Nov. 11, 2016 match vs. Queensborough Community College at the national tournament.

- Payne's 13 assists is a career-high for the setter who primarily played opposite last season.
