Cougars advance to district championship with three-set win over Lorain County

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Columbus State volleyball team is headed to Columbia, Maryland to compete for the District G Championship after clinching the Region XII DIII title on Friday in front of an energetic home crowd. The Cougars won in three sets (25-16, 25-20, 25-19) over Lorain County Community College.

The three set victory was guided by Alaina Monroe and Allyse Rutter. Monroe gave an outstanding performance registering 8 kills with a .500 attack percentage. Rutter continued her outstanding season recording 8 kills, 16 assists, and 9 digs which also includes a game-high .571 attack percentage.

Georgia Payne posted double-digit kills with ten, while Abigail Lucas added seven kills for the Cougar offense. Sophomore Vicki Osborne recorded 14 assists in the win over Lorain. 

Haley Litman led the back row with 19 digs while Olivia Dunham and Rachel Ralston scooped up nine and seven balls, respectively.

Columbus State will face Howard Community College in the District G match on Sat, Nov. 4 at 12:00 p.m. at Howard Community College in Columbia, Maryland.
