COLUMBUS, Ohio – Several players achieved career highs in Wednesday night's home conference matchup against Clark State Community College. The Cougars (2-10, 1-4 OCCAC), who were looking to pick up their first conference win, led the entire game.
The Cougars sunk in 32 of their points in the paint and managed to pull down 53 rebounds against the Eagles (6-7, 1-3 OCCAC). By comparison, Clark State had 20 points in the paint and 41 rebounds. Additionally, Columbus State converted 17 offensive rebounds into 17 points.
Melia Walder had her career-best game with 13 points on 6-for-10 shooting and five assists. The freshman also nabbed her third double-double with 12 rebounds.
Whitney Staggs achieved her ninth career double-double on 11 points and 14 boards. Both she and Walder grabbed a trio of steals in the effort.
Making her debut on the court was Rahnia Price, who registered ten points, six rebounds, and a game-high six assists. Madison Miles added eight points while Haylee Thomas-Speigle had a career-best seven points off of 3-for-4 shooting. Tezzaeria Christian had six points, including a perfect 4-for-4 at the line and a career-high five steals.
Columbus State is back in action on Saturday, traveling to the Word MultiPlex in Warrensville Heights to take on Bryant & Stratton. Tip-off is 1:00 p.m.
