Cougars Drop Home Game Against DII Erie

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Columbus State women's basketball team (1-4, 0-1 OCCAC) dropped a non-conference loss to DII Erie Community College (3-3) on Saturday afternoon in the Delaware Hall Athletic Center.

Down by 18 points at the half, the Cougars kept up with the Kats in the third and managed to out-score them in the fourth, but the rally came too late. The final score was 61-49.

Leading Columbus State was Whitney Staggs, who scored 10 points along with having five rebounds and two steals.

Saraysia Nelson tallied nine points and two assists while Shiann Bassett came in off the bench to put away eight points, including two shots from behind the arc.

Malia Williams notched numbers in nearly every statistical category. She contributed seven points on 3-for-5 shooting, grabbed six boards, and recorded two steals, one assist, and one block.

Lyrik Easley pulled down a career-high 13 rebounds along with adding five points to the effort. Tezzaeria Christian and Qiyje' January each chipped in four points and dished out a trio of assists.

The Cougars return to action after the Thanksgiving holiday, when they travel to Kirtland, Ohio to take on Lakeland Community College on Wed, Nov. 28 at 5:30 p.m.
