Cuyahoga hands women’s basketball a loss at home

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The Columbus State women's basketball team (9-8, 4-4 OCCAC) suffered a slow shooting night against the Cuyahoga Challengers (9-3, 3-3 OCCAC), resulting in an 85-63 loss for the Cougars.

The Cougars shot 34.9% from the field and only 11.8% from the three-point line.

Antishay Rahim and Stephanie Newell both nabbed double-doubles in the effort. Rahim's sixth double-double of the season came off of 15 points and 13 rebounds while Newell's fourth was from 10 points and 12 boards.

Allyse Rutter scored 14 points and accumulated a team-high six steals and two blocks while Destiny Wooten rounded out the double-digit scoring with 11 points. For her part, Wooten has scored double-digits in all but one game this season. She also snatched four rebounds and steals.

Other scorers include Nikia Glenn-Falls with six points, Nycole Carter with four points, and Lia Arnold with three points.

The Cougars return to action on Saturday, when they head south to Nelsonville, Ohio to take on Hocking College. Tip-off is at 1:00 p.m.
