PERRYSBURG, Ohio – The Columbus State women's basketball team (9-7, 4-3 OCCAC) suffered a tough 94-49 loss to DII No. 12 Owens (15-4, 5-1 OCCAC) on the road Saturday afternoon. The Cougars struggled to get their hands on the ball with the Express firing off 30% more shots.
Destiny Wooten led the offensive effort with a 19 points, including two three-pointers. Antishay Rahim was the only other double-digit scorer with ten points on 4-for-7 shooting from the field. Rahim currently leads the country in field goal percentage with 69.6%.
Stephanie Newell sunk in eight points and tied a game-high nine rebounds. Allyse Rutter led Columbus State in assists with three while scoring five points. Wooten and Nycole Carter each snatched eight boards and dished out two assists.
For their part, the Cougars committed a season-low nine turnovers.
The Cougars will look to bounce back when they host Tri-C on Wed, Jan. 24. Tip-off is 5:30 p.m.
