Dominant rebounding key win over Lorain County for women

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Columbus State women's basketball team (9-6, 4-2 OCCAC) surged past the Lorain County Commodores (4-13, 0-6 OCCAC) winning with a final score of 80-55 on Wednesday.

Dominant rebounding allowed the Cougars to control both ends, totaling 23 offensive rebounds and 38 defensive rebounds. Antishay Rahim led the effort with 21 rebounds, followed by Stephanie Newell's' 17 rebounds.

Four Cougars, including Rahim and Newell, scored double-digit points. Rahim and Destiny Wooten each scored 19 points, Newell accumulated 17 points, and Allyse Rutter added 16 points. Newell also led the team in assists (5) and steals (4) while Rahim led in blocks with three.

The Cougars return to action at 1:00 p.m. Sat, Jan. 20 when they hit the road to Perrysburg to take on Owens Community College.
