COLUMBUS, Ohio - Freshman Hunter Kershaw dominated the floor with a game-high 34 points to lead the Cougars to an 87-75 victory over Mott on Friday.
Kershaw was 12-of-20 from the field and 10-of-12 from the free-throw line. She also grabbed 14 rebounds and tallied two steals. Freshman Carli Codner-Pinto and sophomore Alana Stokes each scored 14 points. Codner-Pinto sunk in two three-point goals and shot 100% from the line while adding four assists and three steals. Stokes recorded two steals and two assists.
Freshmen Faryn Buchanan and Hunter Harris registered eight points apiece and pulled in 15 and six rebounds respectively. Harris also had a team-high five assists while recording two steals and a block.
Overall, the Cougars (2-5) shot 37% from the field and 77% from the line.
Columbus State will play Saturday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. in a home game against Wayne County Community College. Next week, they continue their home slate with a game on Tuesday versus the University of Rio Grande JV at 5:30 p.m.
