Cross Country Open Season With a Fourth Place Finish

 SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – The Columbus State cross country team opened up its season with a fourth place finish at the Wittenberg University Invitational on Friday evening. Held at the Clark County Fairgrounds, the Cougars finished with a team score of 110.

Aaron Kennelly was Columbus State's top finisher with a 5k clocking of 17:52.9. The second Cougar to cross the line was Anas Nur, whose 18:27.8 time earned him a 31stplace finish.

Rounding out the scoring effort for the Cougars were Kyle Roach, Reed Farmer, and Laithe Abu-Obeid. Roach finished in 19:05.0 to earn the 40thslot. Farmer crossed the line at 19:41.8 earning him a 43rdplace showing while Laithe Abu-Obeid finished with a time of 20:20.0 for 47thplace.

Nickolas Caiazza and Dylan Williams, who are recent additions to the team, had strong showings at the meet. Caiazza placed 51stwith a time of 20:55.7 and Williams crossed at 21:09.1 for 53rdplace.

Trine University's Derek Miller won the race with a time of 16:08.4.
