Men's golf wins annual spring invitational

SUNBURY, Ohio – The Columbus State men's golf team won its annual spring invitational this past weekend after carding a 307-303—610 (+34). The first place finish was 26 strokes better than Lakeland, who came in second place.

Eight Columbus State golfers participated in the 36-hole weekend event at the par 72, 6,642 yard Bent Tree Golf Club. Top individual medalist honors went to Cougar sophomore Dominic Caminiti, who fired a 71-75—146. Freshman John Carlisle placed second, finishing six strokes behind Caminiti with a 76-76—152.

Sophomore Philip Campisi finished fifth with an 81-74—155 while Christopher Dearth shot an 83-78—161 for a sixth place finish. Jack Casebolt rounded out the Cougars' scoring with a 79-84—163 to tie for seventh place.

The Cougars had three individuals play with sophomore Colin Dawson's 88-80—168. Freshmen John Mikulec and Abdul Basit finished with an 84-89—173 and 80-97—177 respectively.

Next up, the Cougars will compete at the Lourdes Invitational at the Heatherdowns Country Club on Wed, Apr. 19 in Toledo, Ohio.
