Columbus State men’s golf team finishes 5th at Ohio Northern Invitational

HARROD, Ohio - The Columbus State men's golf team finished in fifth place in the Ohio Northern University Spring Invitational, its first event of the season. The tournament was held April 2-3 at the par-73 Colonial Golfers Club.
The Cougars posted a 172-329 over the two day tournament, bringing their total to 69-over par 501. Tiffin University won team honors with a 468 (+36), followed by Ohio Northern's 478 (+46), and Capital University's 483 (+51).

In the first day, the tournament was shortened to nine holes due to snow and extremely high winds that moved into the area. Columbus State concluded that day in 7th place of eight teams. In the second day, a full round was held with the Cougars moving up to a fifth place finish. A total of eight Columbus State golfers competed in the invitational.
Dominic Caminiti paced the Cougars through the invitational, with a 40-78—118 (+10). Caminiti finished tied for fourth place. Philip Campisi shot a 43-80—123 (+15), tying for 15th place.

Justin Dearth and Brooks Anderson each tied for 33rd, shooting a 44-86—130 and 45-85--130 respectively. Josh Sterling rounded out the team scoring with 47-88-135, tying for 41st place.

Other contributors were Sean Delaney, who tied Sterling with a 50-85—135 and Jack Casebolt who carded a 50-91—141 for a 45th place finish.

Columbus State will be back in action next at the Cincinnati State invitational, held April 9-10 at Weatherwax Golf Course in Middletown, Ohio.
