COLUMBUS, Ohio – At the last home game of 2018, the Columbus State Cougars trounced the Owens Express 107-61 on Saturday afternoon in the Delaware Hall Athletic Center. The Cougars (7-4, 4-0 OCCAC) accumulated triple digit points for the first time this season in the dominating 46-point victory over Owens (2-14, 0-4 OCCAC). Never relinquishing the lead, Columbus State led in nearly every statistical category with each player on the team notching a stat.
The team had season-highs in defensive rebounds (33) and assists (25) while tying their season-best in steals (17). They forced 31 turnovers on Owens while turning them into 31 points.
Six Cougars scored in double figures in the win including sophomores RJ Fairrow and Melieck Evans with 19 and 18 points respectively. Jeremiah Green had 14 points while Charles Aden tallied 13 for the offense. Corey Baker and Shawn Hawkins each contributed 12 points apiece.
Evans had a game-high 11 boards and seven assists for his second season double-double while Baker recorded nine rebounds, six assists, and three steals.
The Cougars return to action after winter break on Wed, Jan. 9 when they host Clark State at 7:30 p.m.
