KIRTLAND, Ohio - After being down by three points at the half, the Columbus State men's basketball team (8-11, 6-5 OCCAC) surged past the Lakeland Lakers (6-12, 2-7 OCCAC) late in the second half, winning with a final score of 76-71 on Wednesday.
Rodney Willis led the offense with 15 points, followed by Mario Young's 13 points. Johnnie Robinson, Dylan Geig, and Matthew Gierhart all added 11 points while William Prater chipped in six points for the Cougars. Gierhart led the rebounding effort with eight boards while Willis grabbed seven.
As a team, the Cougars out-assisted and out-blocked the Lakers 14-9 and 5-2 respectively. Additionally, Columbus State shot their fourth best field goal percentage of the season with 51.7%.
The Cougars return to action on Sat, Feb. 18 when they travel to Hocking College. Tip-off is 3:00 p.m.
