COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Columbus State men's basketball team (8-16, 3-8 OCCAC) suffered two conference losses this past week.
On Wednesday, Matthew Rhodes led the Cougar effort with 28 points, hitting 6-for-8 from behind the arc. C.J. Crowder sunk in 16 points, snatched five rebounds, and tallied five assists while Khari Burton and Donte Smith each contributed 11 points. The final score was 83-94.
At Lorain, four Cougars scored in double figures, led by Rhodes' 20 points and five rebounds. Crowder notched 17 points and Robert Caldwell recorded 14 points and five assists. Jarel Woolridge chipped in 11 points and three steals.
Columbus State was no match for Commodores rebounding, grabbing only 27 rebounds compared to Lorain's 58 rebounds. The Cougars lost 88-100.
The men have a tough week ahead. Columbus State will host No. 12 Cincinnati State on Wednesday, February 18 at 7:30 p.m. in the Delaware Hall Athletic Center. On Saturday, the Cougars head to No. 16 Owens. Tip-off is at 3:00 p.m.
